Expert Grub Control for a Healthier Lawn
At Master Gardener Lawn Care, we’re more than just fertilizing specialists — we’re lawn health experts. If you’ve ever seen brown patches, thinning turf, or animals digging up your yard, grubs might be the culprit. Our professional grub control service helps stop the damage before it starts — or eliminates it if it has already.
An Environmentally Responsible Approach
We follow the proven principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) — an innovative, environmentally conscious strategy that emphasizes prevention, accurate diagnosis, and minimal pesticide use. We educate our clients and make recommendations only when necessary to protect both your lawn and the environment.
When Is Grub Control Needed?
A healthy, well-watered lawn can tolerate a small number of grubs, typically up to 5 per square foot, without visible damage. However, when grub populations spike or there is a history of infestation, intervention may be necessary.
We always recommend proper cultural practices first:
- Mow your lawn at 3.5 to 4 inches
- Follow a consistent fertilizing schedule to promote deep roots
If needed, we offer two treatment options based on your lawn’s condition and time of year:
- Curative Grub Control: Applied in spring or fall, curative treatments target grubs that are already active in your lawn. This method is reactive, but avoids unnecessary chemical use. While effective, curative treatments are often shorter-lived and best suited for addressing an existing problem.
- Preventive Grub Control: Preventive products are applied in late June or early July, just before grub eggs hatch. These treatments protect your lawn during peak grub activity but must be timed carefully and watered in properly. When applied correctly, preventive grub control is highly effective at stopping grub damage before it starts.
